Norval Foundation Art Workshops

The Norval Foundation’s Learning Centre will be hosting fun-filled creative workshops for both adults and children with the aim to teach the basics of art in a safe and stimulating environment. Learn more about clay work, mosaic art and mixed media. Participants will be guided to tap into their creativity while drawing inspiration from the works in the museum and sculpture garden. Beat It – The Incredible Story of Michael Jackson

Swan Lake

12 – 23 July, Artscape Opera House

First performed in St Petersburg in 1895, the world’s most-loved ballet Swan Lake will grace our stage this month. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Swan Lake as it was meant to be seen – magnificent sets and lavish costumes; Tchaikovsky’s timeless score performed by South Africa’s finest musicians; and, a truly international company of over 60 with acclaimed and beautiful dancers from around the world.

The Boschendal Citrus Festival

15, 30 July Boschendal Wine Estate, Franschhoek

The Boschendal Citrus Festival will take place until 30 July, with a range of special events and farm activities to suit every taste. From citrus picking to preserve workshops and a Long table lunch on 30 July there is something for the whole family. Activity costs vary and start around R80 per person for the Citrus Picking experience on 15 July and includes a bottle of water and 1kg of citrus to take home. Honest Chocolate Bonbon Workshop

29 July, 10am, Honest Chocolate Factory, Woodstock

If you’ve ever wondered about the magic of chocolate making and what our secrets are, then this is for you! A full tasting and introduction to how cacao beans are farmed and processed as well as a demonstration of how our ethical bean to bar chocolate is made. Guests are then taught to dip, decorate and wrap their own set of four bonbons to take home. This event is suitable for vegans. Tickets from R350.

An Act of Faith – A Ceramics Exhibition at Spier

From 1 July, 9am daily, Old Wine Cellar, Spier Wine Farm, Stellenbosch

An Act of Faith features more than 40 ceramic artworks by artists from across the country.

The title refers to the unpredictability of working with clay, never being sure that what goes into the kiln will come out the way it is expected to. Exploring key themes of physical, emotional and spiritual transformation, viewers will experience ceramics with a story – simultaneously experimental and functional but always beautiful.

Netball World Cup

28 July to 6 August

The Vitality Netball World Cup 2023 (VNWC2023) will be the first to take place on the continent on Africa and will see 16 teams battling it out across the 10 days, in the hope they will be crowned champions in netball’s most prestigious event.
