Join Zeitz MOCAA for the opening of Past Disquiet and Seismography of Struggle: Towards a Global History of Critical and Cultural Journals – on Thursday, 3 August as well as accompanying Symposium and Book Launch on Saturday, 5 August 2023. The exhibitions explore archival, exhibition, and publishing histories related to resistance, struggle, and solidarity. They bring together both storytelling and immersive viewing experiences.

Dope Saint Jude Live at Artscape

Dope Saint Jude will be performing a special live show on Women’s Day at the Artscape Theatre. Supported by a live band made up of Giovanni Serci (Drums), Antonio Cencherle (Keys), Arianna Carini (Guitar) and Jody Engelbrecht (Musical direction) and many more, this will be her first live band offering in South Africa in over 5 years. Long-time Dope Saint Jude collaborator and Drag Queen, Manila von Teez, will serve as the opening act of the show.

Total Sports Women’s Race

The streets of Cape Town will resemble a “Sea of Pink” on 9 August when runners and walkers join forces in solidarity to celebrate National Women’s Day at the iconic Totalsports Women’s Race!

Starting and finishing point is the Grand Parade in Darling Street.

Celebrating all women – mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts, the Totalsports Women’s Race launched in the Western Cape in 2001. In 2007 the event expanded to Johannesburg, before heading to Durban in 2011 making it SA’s largest Nationwide Women’s Day Celebration.

Each entrant will receive an Event tee as part of their entry. No U14yrs.

ECS features established jazz acts, as well as up-and-coming experimental acts that are looking for a stage to cut their teeth. 

This is a weekly event that’s growing a loyal following with every set, so be a part of the good vibes and join us every Thursday for some of the local and international talent.
