What to Expect at This Year’s Cape Town Pride

Cape Town Pride returns to the city in March, promising a vibrant kaleidoscope of colour, thrill and excitement.

Leading up to the Cape Town Pride Parade, organisers hosted various city events, including a hike, a Pets for Pride Promenade Walk, and a drag brunch.

Celebrate

Cape Town Pride aims to raise awareness of LGBTQI+ issues and campaigns for freedoms that enable individuals to live genuinely equal lives. It celebrates people of every race, faith, ability, and sexuality, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, queer, questioning, intersex, trans, genderqueer, gender variant, non-binary individuals, as well as straight and cis allies.

What to Expect

The parade occurs on 2 March, from 11 am to 9 pm. The Parade commences at 11am on Alfred St, at the intersection with Prestwich St in De Waterkant.

The procession will be led by Mr and Miss Cape Town Pride, followed by the ever-popular bikers from Ride with Pride and an assortment of skateboarders and roller-skaters.

Once the Parade reaches Somerset Road, it will stop briefly at the Rainbow Crossing for the Official Ribbon Cutting before the start of the parade. It will continue along Somerset Road and Main Road through Green Point, ending at the Green Point A Track.
