On holiday in Cape Town and need some “me” time, decided to spoil a friend for their birthday – or perhaps you need a pampering before your special day? Whatever it may be, these spas offer some unique and unforgettable treatments.
Tranquila Spa at Aquila
Enjoy a morning game drive, and then indulge in one of many magical treatments at Tranquila Spa, located at Aquila Private Game Reserve and Spa. The African spa uses only natural products free from petrochemicals, synthetic ingredients, colourants and preservatives. Enjoy the incredible medicinal powers of indigenous plants, flowers and herbs, before taking a dip in one of two large heated indoor pools. Other facilities include a steam room, sauna, nail bar, and an outdoor pool. Access to the Tranquila Spa is free to guests booked into the Premier Cottages and guests that have stays longer than two nights.
Cayenne Spa at the Pepper Club Hotel
Cayenne Spa offers an eclectic menu of treatments including body wraps, massages, body exfoliations, and more. Their signature treatment is the Intonga Stick Massage—a full-body deep tissue massage performed with both hands and an African Bamboo wooden stick. They also have a couples’ treatment room if you want to share an experience with your partner.
The spa at The One & Only offers massage treatments that encourage you to unwind, elevate, and restore. Their signature treatments include things like a Holistic Body Ritual—a fusion of treatments that begin with a full-body exfoliation, followed by a body wrap and finally a scalp and full-body massage. You can also go on a spa journey or book in for a half-day and enjoy the facilities.
ANGSANA SPA at the VINEYARD HOTEL
The Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands is the perfect sanctuary, set in a seven seven-acre riverside garden estate on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. Several treatment rooms make the most of this setting opening up to private courtyards and plenty of natural light filtering into the rooms. On the menu is a refreshing and rejuvenating blend of treatments, which fuse techniques from East and West. End a day of pampering with a stroll through the gardens before indulging in Lady Anne’s Afternoon Tea at the hotel’s garden lounge or patio.
Ubuntu Wellness Centre at Medi-Spa
If you’re looking for something pioneering and truly unique, this holistic treatment centre on Kloof Street is the place to go. This is one of the few places in the country where you’ll find flotation tanks, where you can laze in a bath of healing salts in a state of sensory isolation. They also do a contemporary Japanese treatment that uses musical vibrations, beneath the boughs of an ancient healing tree. You can also purchase cutting-edge treatments, like pure CBD oils, or just enjoy classic treatments like the amazing full body massages. The centre also trains women from disadvantaged communities to develop therapeutic skills, so visit Ubuntu Bridge if you want to relax and unwind knowing you’ve helped do some good.
O on Kloof Boutique Hotel & Spa
If you’re looking for a personalised treatment, that’s exactly what O Spa provides—luxury treatments for you personally that will revitalise your mind and body. Their signature treatment is the African Shea Aroma Therapeutic massage, which uses Africology balms to help you unwind and de-stress.
Spa at The Twelve Apostles Hotel
With the most phenomenal Atlantic view, this spa is the ultimate escape for a restorative treatment. They offer massages like hot stone and Thai but also have some very interesting packages. Our favourite is the Mountain Serenade, where you and your partner get to enjoy breath-taking views of the Twelve Apostles while being treated to either a hot stone or aromatherapy massage, along with oysters, strawberries dipped in chocolate and sparkling wine! It doesn’t get better than this.
Spa at Cape Grace
Having won the award for the Top Hotel Spa for Africa & the Middle East in 2015, this is one not to miss! They have a range of anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation treatments. Try the Kalahari signature treatments, developed with natural ingredients based on plant oils, red sand, and mineral salts. The Rolling Sands Massage evokes rolling dunes and blue expansive skies, with a massage that uses dancing arm movements and a warm candle.
Librisa Spa at the Mount Nelson
Librisa works with skincare companies Kalahari and Africology, renowned for their commitment to natural ingredients. Each visit begins with a consultation, taking into account individual needs. Visitors can choose from a wide range of face and body treatments in one of eight spacious rooms housed in three late-Victorian buildings. Choose a signature treatment like the Kalahari Rolling Sands massage, which relieves muscle tension using botanical oils.
Amani Spa Radisson Blu
The Radisson Blu Hotel at the Waterfront provides an idyllic setting for the Amani Spa. Enjoy a Amani Journey or choose one of their pamper packages or a signature treatment. The Jewel of Africa Massage uses crystals, warm oils, and flowing movements to reduce muscle tension and balance the body’s energies.
Heavenly Spa by Westin
Heavenly Spa is aptly named, as it’s located on the 19th floor of the Westin. They have a host of massages and signature treatments on their menu, as well as specials. The Secret Lunch Hour special definitely takes the cake. Choose one luxury treatment, two delicious courses from the menu at ON19, and be back at your desk within 90 minutes!
Jiva Spa at Taj Hotel
The philosophy of this spa is rooted in India’s approach to wellness and inspired by Indian healing wisdom. A host of signature treatments are on offer. If you’re looking for a truly rare experience then opt for one of their Indian treatments like Ventoz Indian cupping. This is a 90-minute ritual where heat in a glass is used to create a vacuum to ease knots and sore points, followed by a deep-tissue massage.
