aquila safari

If you’re  looking to enjoy a Big 5 safari experience but are on a time crunch, book one of Aquila Private Game Reserve’s Day Safaris.

Located two hours from Cape Town, Aquila delivers an unforgettable safari adventure that’s perfect for all ages. Known for its commitment to conservation and luxurious amenities, the game reserve provides the perfect backdrop for spotting the Big 5, crocodiles, ostriches, and a diverse range of other wildlife. Here’s everything you need to know when planning your day safari at Aquila:

How to Plan a Trip to Aquila Private Game Reserve

The Safari Packages

Aquila offers both half-day and full-day safari packages, tailored to suit various preferences and schedules. These include an early morning safari, an afternoon safari, and a sunset safari. The experience starts with a welcome drink and breakfast (early morning safari), buffet lunch (afternoon safari), or snacks and refreshments (sunset game drive). Guests then get to enjoy a 2–3-hour traditional safari game drive. You are free to explore the rest of the reserve during your free time. The tour comes with a complimentary Eco Synergy Tour for early morning and afternoon game drives. You also get to make use of the outdoor infinity pool during your leisure time, so pack your swimming costume, sunscreen and hat.

The full-day safari includes a traditional safari and quad bike or horseback safari options. Both quad bike and horseback safaris allow guests to see and photograph South Africa’s wildlife up close and personal. These safaris are led by two qualified game rangers, ensuring you have the best opportunity to see the Karoo’s natural fauna and flora. The Combo Full Day Safari merges the traditional safari with either a horseback or quad bike safari.

Booking Your Safari

Now that you know the safari options, it’s best to book your trip in advance, especially during peak seasons. To book, you must provide your mobile number (valid for South Africa) as your information will be used for booking confirmation and communication with the reserve.

Reservations can be made online through Aquila’s official website at www.aquilasafari.com/ or call 021 430 7260.

Plan Ahead

To make the most of your Aquila safari, preparation is key. This means you must:

Plan your travel time: Depending on where you are staying, plan your travel time accordingly.
Dress appropriately: Wear comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring a hat, a jacket, sunglasses and sunscreen.
Pack the essentials: Pack a small bag with all the personal items you might need, including medication, a power bank, and a few snacks in case you get peckish during the trip.

Try to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to complete any necessary check-ins. If you require transport to Aquila, please note that transfers are only offered as a paid extra, and only available for full-day or Afternoon Safaris.
