Uber, in partnership with Aquila Private Game Reserve in the Western Cape, has announced a new limited edition offering that you’re sure to go wild over.
Introducing Uber Safari, a thrilling one-day safari experience that can be arranged at the tap of a button. Operating every Friday and Saturday until the end of January 2025, the new offering is part of Uber’s “Go Anywhere” travel series, making it easier than ever to experience one of Africa’s must-see destinations.
How Does It Work?
When booking your Uber Safari in the app, you can schedule a ride anytime between 24 hours and 90 days in advance for a flat fee of $200 (around R3,500). The round trip accommodates up to four guests in a stylish, branded Uber Safari SUV, with pickup available from anywhere in Cape Town.
To book your Uber Safari, follow these steps:
- Download the Uber app on your smartphone and open it.
- Select the ‘Uber Safari’ icon from the home screen.
- Read about Uber Safari and choose your preferred date.
- Enter your pickup and drop-off locations. Please select the pickup time as 9:30am
- Check all the details to ensure everything is correct, then click ‘Reserve Uber Safari.’
- If your trip is confirmed, you’ll receive an email notification.
Ride on the Wild Side
On the day of your safari, your driver will arrive at 9:30 AM to whisk you away on a scenic two-and-a-half-hour journey to Aquila, located in the Karoo. As you travel, enjoy breathtaking views of dramatic mountains that look like they’ve come straight out of a postcard.
When you arrive at Aquila, you’ll be greeted with a glass of champagne, followed by a delicious al fresco lunch, before hopping onto a traditional safari vehicle for an unforgettable 2–3-hour wildlife experience.
Aquila, a Big 5 game reserve, allows you a chance to spot lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. The reserve is also home to ostriches, various species of antelope, giraffes, and even hippos.
Throughout the drive, experienced rangers and field guides will share fascinating insights about the flora and fauna, and if you’re lucky, you might just catch a front-row seat to the animals’ daily antics.
