Cruising from Cape Town? Here’s what to expect

Are you craving an escape? A budget-friendly break with uninterrupted ocean views, world-class cuisine and activities for all ages? You may want to consider a leisurely cruise with MSC Cruises.

Cruising has become a popular holiday choice for South Africans who want an affordable holiday. If you haven’t had the chance to experience one, no worries! MSC is still operating a few cruises from Cape Town before their cruise season ends in April.

The appeal

MSC cruises are suitable for every type of traveller, whether you want to enjoy it solo, with your partner, with a group of friends or with your family.

From as little as R3 556 per person, you can book a 3-night or 4-night cruise on MSC Sinfonia from Cape Town to Mossel Bay or Walvis Bay in Namibia.

What to expect on board

Your cruise holiday begins as soon as you board the ship. MSC Sinfonia offers everything from fine dining experiences for foodies, a fully equipped sports centre and jogging track for fitness fanatics and an adventure playroom to keep the little ones entertained.

You cruise on your terms and can do as little or as much as you want.

When you’re tired of chilling by the pool with a cocktail, MSC’s exciting daily programme offers suggestions on how to plan your time.

During the day, you can join the other guests for dance classes, quizzes and sports tournaments. Or you could pamper yourself or a loved one with modern beauty treatments and exotic Balinese massages at the spa.

The nighttime festivities are equally appealing-whether you want to dress to the nines and attend a theatre show, try your luck on the blackjack tables at the casino or dance the night away at the nightclub.

Themed cruises

For those who cannot resist a themed party, MSC-themed cruises are worth checking out. The cruise company offers a few during their South African cruise season. Bok Boot (6-10 March 2023) and Oppiwater Kunstefees (11 – 15 April 2023) are the remaining two themed cruises for this season.

Travel with a global brand

MSC Cruises is known as the world’s largest privately-owned cruise company, is hailed as the number one cruise line in South Africa, Europe, South America and the Gulf.

The fleet currently comprises 20 ultra-modern, highly innovative and elegantly designed ships, which will expand to 25 cruise ships by 2027 thanks to an ambitious industry-unprecedented €11.6 billion investment plan.

MSC Cruises ships are fitted with the latest environmental features and maritime technology. The cruise company aims to further develop innovative ways of lowering the environmental impact of its cruise passages. These include initiatives to improve air quality from ship emissions, advanced wastewater treatment, and comprehensive and coherent waste and garbage management.
