Cape Town’s New Foodie Market is Perfect for a Time Out

Time Out Market will launch in Cape Town this November, marking the first Time Out Market on the African continent.

Located at the renowned V&A Waterfront, this international food and cultural market promises to captivate the taste buds and immerse visitors in all things Cape Town.

What to Expect at Time Out Market Cape Town

The Cape Town installment will boast 13 kitchens, 3 bars, a wine bar and cultural experiences, all set in a 30,000-square-foot space.

Guests will have the opportunity to sample some of the best food from the city’s finest chefs while dining at communal tables set with fine china and flatware.

Some of the eateries to expect include restaurateur and chef Bertus Basson’s De Vrije Burger, Chef Vusi Ndlovu’s MLILO ‘Fires of Africa,’ Chef John Van Zyl’s The Melting Pot Seafood, Yann Rey’s Unframed Ice Cream, chef duo Matt Van Den Berg and Carla Schulze’s How Bao Now, Chef Siba Mtongana’s The Siba Deli, Chefs Peter Tempelhoff’s Sushiya, and Chef Giorgio Nava’s CARNE.

Time Out will also provide the city’s up-and-coming chefs and much-loved local gems with a platform to showcase their skills and creativity.

Time Out Market’s Co-CEO of Operations, Sandy Hayek, said guests will get a true taste of the city and present Cape Town as a leading culinary and cultural hub.

General Manager of Time Out Market Cape Town, Russ Meyer, said they have scoured Cape Town for its best local culinary talents.

“We want to be an incredible reflection of the city’s exciting, diverse, and vibrant restaurant scene.

“The Market will be home to outstanding local chefs and restaurateurs who are all raring to go and to welcome our guests. Together, we will proudly present Cape Town as a leading culinary and cultural hub and are committed to supporting and showcasing local talent to a local and global audience,” he said.

Going Global

Time Out Market first launched in Lisbon in 2014 to provide a comprehensive showcase of the city’s remarkable features and attractions, often featured in the pages of their magazine. The ultimate goal was to curate an immersive destination that captured the essence of Lisbon’s vibrant culture and offerings. Due to its increasing popularity, Time Out Market subsequently opened in Boston, Chicago, New York, Montreal, and Dubai.
