What’s On At The V&A Waterfront

The V&A Waterfront is more than just a shopping destination; the iconic Cape Town attraction is also home to five-star dining establishments, fun indoor and outdoor activities, entertainment, events and some of the city’s best views. 

The V&A Waterfront’s calendar is always chockful of events and experiences to keep visitors entertained throughout the year. Here are some of the new experiences and events to check out at the V&A Waterfront:  

Events 

Take the Stage Series  

The Take the Stage Series is a live music concert featuring emerging South African musicians to showcase their talents. Head to one of the multiple concerts scheduled throughout February 2023. The best part? It’s free! 

When: 5, 12, 19 & 26 February 2023

Price: Free  

The Ocean Race  

The 14th edition of the Ocean Race will see sailors in a marathon race around the world. Cape Town is one of the stops, with the V&A Waterfront being the hub of the Cape Town stopover.  

When: 8 -26 February 2023  

Where: Various locations across the V&A Waterfront  

Price: Free  

V&A Waterfront Kids Market  

V&A Waterfront Kids Market is a fun, interactive market run by kids. It offers them the opportunity to showcase their creative businesses to the public while earning money at the same time.  

When: 25 February 2023 and 25 March 2023  

Where: Union Square (25 Feb) and Market Square (25 March)  

Price: Free entry 

ULT.X – African BMX & Skate Champs  

The biggest action sports event in Africa takes place at Battery Park in March. The event sees BMX bikers and skateboard champions from all over challenge each other to determine the best of the best. Expect live performances by DJ Speedsta, Jack Parow and DJ ReadyD.  

When: 3 – 4 March 2023  

Where: Battery Park

New Shopping Attractions 

The V&A Waterfront recently revamped the Alfred Mall located at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel in the Quays District. The newly refurbished mall aims to redefine the African retail shopping experience with five new shopping attractions:

AAFRICAA  

This newly opened store sells contemporary crafted and artisanal luxury African designs from the continent’s leading brands and designers.

This jewellery store holds some of Africa’s finest treasures, including gold, rubies, opals, emeralds, tanzanite and diamonds.

Mungo & Jemima  

Looking for timeless proudly South African brands? Mungo & Jemima sells some of the finest apparel and accessories created by local designers.

Hannah Lavery  

The clothing design house celebrates women of all shapes and sizes with neutral, classic designs.

New eateries   

Coco Safar  

The popular French-style café, known for its world-famous croissants and mouth-watering pâtisseries, has finally made its way to the V&A Waterfront for all to enjoy. Located at the Alfred Mall near the dock area, expect outside seating with spectacular views of Table Mountain, the harbour and the ocean.

Tang  

Tang is a luxurious Asian restaurant and bar, inspired by Japanese izakayas and classic Cantonese eateries in Hong Kong. Sample some of their mouth-watering sushi, their miso glazed black cod or the robata grills.

The Raj Indian Restaurant  

The Raj Indian Restaurant serves up North Indian cuisine in its most authentic style. Enjoy traditional tikka masala, vindaloo or a selection of biryanis, curries and flatbreads.

Royal Tea  

Royal Tea is a premium bubble tea bar that brings the contemporary Chinese tea-drinking culture to South Africa. There’s something for all tea lovers including their signature classic bubble tea, their oolong-based cheese teas and their fresh fruit teas.

Paul  

Paul is a French restaurant that serves up artisanal patisseries, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their baked goods are all freshly baked daily, including their mouth-watering tarts and fresh bread. Popular options include French toast, crepes and baguette sandwiches.
