Camps Bay

Camps Bay- About the Neighbourhood

Camps Bay is the playground of the “it” crowd – whether you want to spend some time on the white sandy beach, take a dip in one of the tidal pools or sip on cocktails on the strip, during the summer season, particularly the festive season, Camps Bay is the place to see and be seen in Cape Town.

Five-star boutique hotels, upmarket restaurants and cocktail bars, rooftop bars, beach boutiques, a shopping mall as well as a theatre are just some of the attractions – all located within walking distance from the beach. Watch the sunset from the beach or on the terrace of one of the many restaurants. The area is vibey day and night with local traders and buskers showing off their wares and talent. Camps Bay is home to Camps Bay beach, Glen beach and Bakoven beach.

In the late 1940s, Langa was one of the first townships to be established for black South Africans. The Apartheid government attempted to control the township by limiting its growth and restricting residents’ movement. However, Langa residents fought back against these restrictions and made the township a center of resistance to Apartheid.

There are many popular attractions in Langa, such as the Langa Quarter, which is a lively market where you can find traditional African crafts and foods. The township is also home to a number of museums and monuments, which offer insight into the culture and history of the area.

Key Attractions in Camps Bay

The main drag, Victoria Road, is jam-packed with funky restaurants, trendy pubs, and bucket-and-spade shops on one side, and a palm-fringed beach on the other.

Popular Attractions in Camps Bay

While supermodels and rock stars of the world are known to hang out at Camps Bay, the tidal pool is a great place for families – the sandy beach is wide and flat, but be careful of the strong backwash

Places to Stay in Camps Bay

Under the looming Twelve Apostles and Lion’s Head, with views out across the turquoise-coloured sea, Camps Bay sports some of the trendiest places in Cape Town.

Places to Eat & Drink in Camps Bay

Cape Town locals are spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful locations, but if you’re looking for a spot that offers up magnificent views of the ocean and mountain as well as gorgeous people and top-notch cocktails, you can’t go wrong with Camps Bay.
