Lion’s Head
Lion’s Head is a popular hike in the Mother City, offering panoramic views of the city, Table Mountain, Camps Bay, Signal Hill and the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range. This hike may require a little effort, but the views from the top are worth the trek. Lion’s Head provides some of the most picturesque viewing spots, perfect for a sunset picnic or a selfie. If you are planning a visit, especially for the trek down, ensure that you travel with a group, remain vigilant, and do not carry many valuables.

Table Mountain
This iconic Cape Town attraction needs no introduction. Take the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway up (the earlier you go, the more time you have to explore) and stroll to the many vantage points on offer. For a sundowner, head to KLOUD Bar or enjoy wine tasting at VIEWS by De Grendel Wines. If you don’t feel like going up the mountain, Tap Bar, located at the bottom of Table Mountain near the Lower Cableway Station, also offers magical sunsets.

Price: If you are heading up Table Mountain, you will require a Table Mountain Aerial Cableway ticket. You can get a free ticket on your birthday month and qualify for pensioner discounts. The normal ticket price starts from R120.
Signal Hil
Pack a picnic and head up to Signal Hill for an afternoon of sunsets and selfies. Known for boasting some of the city’s best sunsets, travellers from far and wide drive up this scenic route for a glimpse of the action. If you’re lucky, you may spot a few eager paragliders jumping off the mountain. Don’t forget to carry a jacket as it can get chilly at the top in the evenings.

Sea Point Promenade
The Sea Point Promenade comes alive at sunset, bustling with runners, joggers, dog walkers, ocean enthusiasts and the occasional cyclist. Stay a while and witness the sky transforming into shades of pink, orange, and purple, creating the perfect backdrop for candid moments or simply to soak in the beauty. Afterward, indulge in a delightful meal at one of the nearby restaurants.

SunSquare Cape Town City Bowl
Situated on the corner of Buitengracht and Strand, the SunSquare Cape Town City Bowl hotel showcases some of the most incredible sunsets from its 14Stories Rooftop Bar. Grab a drink and marvel at the picturesque views stretching from Table Mountain to the V&A while the sun descends for the day.

Chapman’s Peak Drive
Chapman’s Peak, or ‘Chappies’ to locals, winds its way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay on the Atlantic Coast at the southwestern tip of South Africa. This award-winning route is also hailed as one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world and perfect to catch the sunset. Along the route, stop at the many lookout spots where you can stop to admire the grand views.

Sunset Beach
Expect some of the most picture-perfect sunsets at Sunset Beach in Milnerton. Visitors flock to this long sandy beach to enjoy the gorgeous views of Table Mountain and its striking pink/purple skyline. This dog-friendly beach is also perfect for kite surfing and picnics.

Maiden’s Cove
Maiden’s Cove, nestled between Clifton’s beaches and Glen Beach, offers dramatic views of the Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean.
