5 Reasons to Visit Cape Town

If you’ve been toying with the idea of visiting Cape Town, South Africa but need an extra push to convince you, keep reading.

Cape Town is a modern, cosmopolitan city renowned for its breathtaking beaches, diverse biodiversity, mouthwatering cuisine, and world-renowned wine routes.

Here are 5 Reasons to visit Cape Town:

Beautiful Weather

Cape Town has a temperate, Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, which provides plenty of opportunity to explore all year round. Our summer season lasts from November to March, with the winter months running between June to August. The geography of the peninsula means we have several microclimates. Locals often joke that it’s possible to experience all four seasons in one day. But hold onto your hats for the wind can get wild and unpredictable.

Cape Town Outdoors

World-famous Beaches and Postcard Perfect Landscapes

The Mother City epitomises aesthetic goals. Nestled between our dramatic mountains and world-famous beaches, every corner boasts a postcard-perfect moment. Cape Town’s stunning 300km coastline features 72 beautiful beaches, each with its own unique characteristics. From the West Coast, Cape Peninsula, to False Bay, a trip to one of our beaches is bound to be memorable.

Cape Town boasts 8 internationally acclaimed Blue Flag status beaches, including Bikini Beach, Camps Bay, Clifton 4th Beach, Fish Hoek, Llandudno, Melkbosstrand, Muizenberg and Silwerstroom. These beaches have been awarded Blue Flag status in recognition of their adherence to the rigorous standards set by the Foundation for Environmental Education. These standards cover various aspects of environmental management, including water quality, safety measures, and public environmental education initiatives.

Here, you can enjoy some sun, sand and water-based sports such as surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kitesurfing, and diving. At Boulders Beach, you can also enjoy a day with the African penguins.

For kite surfing enthusiasts, Blouberg Beach is one of the Top 10 Kitesurfing Destinations in the world.

Out-of-the-box Cuisine Options

Cape Town is home to a diverse array of food offerings that reflect its rich cultural tapestry and vibrant heritage. Suited for all budgets and palates, you will find everything from traditional South African dishes to a wide range of international cuisine options. This city is home to award-winning Italian restaurants, authentic Middle Eastern eateries, Turkish,   Asian and of course all the flavourful food from the African continent. Visitors can also indulge in mouthwatering local dishes loved by locals – try the gatsby, an extra-long sub packed to the brim with the meat of your choice (steak, chicken, fish, calamari, viennas, or a vegan alternative), or a salomi, curry of your choice wrapped in a roti, or go something sweeter like koesister, a traditional Cape Malay treat finished off with a sprinkling of coconut or milktart.

Table Mountain

Table Mountain is a bucket list attraction for travellers across the globe. This award-winning destination is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and offers unparalleled views of Cape Town. Flanked by Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head, this iconic attraction makes up the northern end of the Cape Fold Mountain range.

The mountain, home to over 1460 species of fynbos and animals such as the caracal, mongoose and dassie, has been a protected area for over 100 years. The quickest way to the top is by using the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, and for the more adventurous, a variety of hikes leads to the summit.

World-Renowned Wine

Cape wines are world-renowned, and it’s worth venturing out to the various wine routes scattered throughout the city.

Explore areas like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Constantia, Paarl, Durbanville for that perfect glass of wine. These winelands  offer not only exceptional wines but also breathtaking scenery, gourmet dining, and unique pairing experiences.
