Groot Constantia: A Wine Lover’s Paradise

Wine lovers travel far and wide to experience Groot Constantia—South Africa’s oldest wine-producing farm. Groot Constantia has been producing wine of outstanding quality since 1685, and its award-winning wines are still celebrated around the world today.

Visit the original Cloete Cellar, the birthplace of Grand Constance—the sweet wine famously enjoyed by Napoleon. The Cloete Cellar hosts a tasting room and a museum where the original seals and Groot Constantia bottles can be found on display, all of which were discovered all over the world and returned to their place of birth.

The Wine & Gift Shop, situated at the estate's entrance, features a range of award-winning Groot Constantia wines and provides an exciting retail experience that highlights local talent, showcasing creations from various South African entrepreneurs, artists, designers, and craftsmen.

Groot Constantia is a working farm, where visitors can explore the Manor House, the original Cloete Cellar, and enjoy a cellar tour along with a wine tasting as part of the Visitors Route Experience. The ticket for the Visitors Route Experience includes a souvenir Groot Constantia wine glass to take home as a gift. Three self-guided audio walking tours are available, allowing you to explore the rich history and production of Groot Constantia wine at your own pace.

Simon’s Restaurant and Jonkershuis Restaurant welcome visitors with al fresco dining at the estate, expertly paired with Groot Constantia’s award-winning wines. Romantic picnics and private dining opportunities create a unique fine dining experience. Both restaurants boast beautiful views of the vineyards and ancient oak trees, against a backdrop of Table Mountain’s gentle slopes, enhancing every meal with stunning natural scenery.
