South African Jewish Museum
It not only covers cultural and religious communities from this part of the world, but also contains exhibits that illustrate the history of Jews, Jewish life and Judaism in general. Crisp, modern interiors present interactive displays, audio-visual technology and rare artefacts. It gives an insight into a community who was, and continues to be, incredibly influential in South African society.
School excursions are an option while the museum also supports an outreach programme which looks to foster knowledge, understanding and appreciation of religious and cultural diversity. Available to browse too is one of the world’s largest collection of netsuke, miniature Japanese sculptures.
