SANParks: Addo Elephant National Park

As if that isn’t enough, the park’s marine protected area is also home to the world’s largest breeding population of Cape gannets, and the second largest breeding population of African penguins.

The Addo Elephant National Park was established in 1931 and at the time, only 11 elephants remained in the area. Through conservation efforts over the years, the park now boasts over 600 elephants, as well as a variety of other wildlife. Every South African – and visitor to South Africa – should try make it to the Addo at least once and with a wide range of accommodation, it’s more affordable than you think.
