Edith Stephens Wetland Park
Bird watchers and nature lovers can enjoy sights of ibises, egrets, cormorants white-backed ducks, and snipes among more, most prominently found during the winter rains between July and September.
The wetland park came into being in 1955 when botanist Edit Stevens bought a 3.7 hectare piece of land surrounding the Isoetes Vlei and entrusted it to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. In 1999, the City of Cape Town expanded the plot a further 35 hectares to form the park that exists today.
