Simon’s Town offers an array of experiences ranging from organic farming, getting up close with ocean life and even a ghost walk taking you through the historical stories of one of SA’s oldest towns! Here are a few things you should do next time you’re in Simon’s Town.

Breakfast

A good breakfast is an important way to start the day. Just Nuisance Memorial

After your meal, take a 20 minute scenic drive up to Just Nuisance Memorial which overlooks the entire town and harbour. If you’re an early bird, you could start your day here and watch the magical sunrise then head out for breakfast after. If you’re feeling extra sporty, climb the 1000+ steps to the top instead!While at the top you get to admire the vibrant fynbos growing between the abandoned cableway infrastructure with mountain views in the background (this makes for stunning pics). In the past, the cableway was used to transport patients to the hospital at the top. Coffee cost: R30

Kayaking

Paddle the warm waters of False Bay and let Kayak Cape Town show you some amazing things on their kayak trip, visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach. They also have waterbiking and supping on offer! Kayak cost: R290 per person

Shark encounters

Check shark cage diving off your bucket list with AFRICAN SHARK ECO-ENCOUNTERS which offers a safe, eco-friendly way to view these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. They are running a “Welcome Back Promo” until the end of 2020 to celebrate that we can travel again.

Naval Base

Visit South African Navy’s largest naval base – the museum is very well put together and maintained with so much history and historical artefacts.Cost: free (can donate)

Fish and chips

Enjoy some fish and chips at Salty Sea Dog while street musicians sing aloud – all situated in the heart of the harbour buzz.Cost: about R50 – R80 per meal

Paranormal activity

Do a ghostwalk through the town and cemetery with one of the local tour guidesCost: R150 for adults, R50 for kids Ghost walk Simon's Town

Head to the beach

And of course, in true Cape Town style, sit back and enjoy the beautiful clear-water beaches and pearly white sand!Beaches: free!

Browse the market

Simon’s Town has an organic farmers market which is even hidden from the city – locals buy their eggs from here and have picnics on the lawns every now and then. It’s an ideal picnic setting since it’s surrounded by ocean views. They have goats, hens, roosters and greenhouses tunnels to grow fresh produce! With so many things to see and do in this area, it’s best staying for a few days to get the most out of this town!
