Cape Town Summer Market

Launched 20 years ago, the market was established to celebrate the City and to create a developmental, safe and alternative retail experience for local residents and visitors in the heart of Cape Town. It has grown from humble beginnings to one of the major events in the city.

The Cape Town Summer Market will kick off with festivities including live music, dance performances as well as the popular singing competition, The Summer Star.

150 vendors will be selected against strict criteria, to participate in this year’s summer market.

‘The market is significant for the City of Cape Town because it provides an inclusive space where locals, residents and tourists can, shop engage and enjoy the local entertainment and other activities available for the young and old under the stars. It is also aligned with the City of Cape Town’s strategic pillar, the opportunity city’ said Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
