Biesmiellah Restaurant is a family-owned business that has been around for more than 4 decades. Situated in the colourful area of Bo-Kaap, this traditional Cape Malay restaurant serves up an assortment of tantalising cuisine that celebrates locals and their culture.

Biesmiellah, which translates to “in the name of Allah”, is a strictly halaal establishment known for its affordable meals.

What’s on the menu

The restaurant’s simple design belies its excellent food. The menu is expansive, offering everything from perfectly spiced curries to mouthwatering seafood dishes and beloved snacks like the chili bite, potato wara, and samosas.  Travellers and locals especially love their Cape Malay dishes like tomato bredie, Denningvleis (sweet and sour-like tasting lamb stew) and an aromatic Bobotie served with yellow rice. Other favourites are the falooda and sweet or salted lassi.

Cost

Although Biesmiellah has been on revered food lists as some of the best places to eat in Cape Town, travellers here can enjoy value meals on a budget. Meals range from R35 for starters and from R110 for a main meal.
