Franschhoek Wine Tram
Leave your modern life, and car, behind when you take a trip on the charming and classic Franschhoek Wine Tram.
Just over an hour from Cape Town, the Franschhoek Valley is a spectacularly beautiful region and wine route.
With many of the wine farms sharing a French Huguenot heritage. Expect to find enormous French influence here and not surprisingly a Champagne-inspired sparkling wine sub-route, the “Cap Classique Route”. Park your car and catch the Franschhoek Wine Tram and experience the Franschhoek Valley from a different perspective. The wine tram, which includes wine tasting at Rickety Bridge and Dieu Donne as well as a welcome drink at Haute Cabrière, winds through the valley, passing pretty vineyards and taking travellers through postcard-perfect scenery.
There is, of course, more to the area than the wine route. The gorgeously quaint village of Franschhoek abounds with art galleries, antique shops, restaurants and boutique hotels. The town also plays host to the annual Bastille Festival – a celebration of Franschhoek’s French heritage. Franschhoek is known for its natural beauty.
