V&A Waterfront has used the festive season as a platform to showcase stories of light, celebrate hope and spread Joy from Africa to the World.
Instead of fireworks, they shone a beam of hope from the neighbourhood which, on clear nights, was visible throughout the city and suburbs that have a view of the city bowl.
The beam symbolised the lives that were lost, the jobs that were affected, the coming together of a nation in solidarity and ultimately for hope in the new year.
The beam will light up for an hour at midnight on 31 December and daily for an hour at 21:00 for the following 6 days into the new year.
Join the V&A Waterfront in celebrating the following themes for the next seven days: REFLECTION, COMPASSION, SOLIDARITY, INSPIRATION, CONNECTION, COLLABORATION and HOPE.
