The AfroFest is a citywide festival celebrating African culture. This September, the event will put the freshest African art, music, craft and food in the city under the spotlight. This collaborative festival boasts a programme with a variety of events ranging from music and dance to film, and will bring phenomenal support for homegrown artists and a boost for local businesses.
The festival takes place on Heritage Weekend, from 21 to 24 September 2019.

The AfroFest prides itsef on being a decentralised festival, so look out for venues in Langa, Observatory, Khayelitsha, and the CBD. Be sure to check out the events taking place at Iziko Museums, Mali South, Nomad Bistro&Bar, Global Nomad Backpackers, KASI-RC, The Fugly Art Gallery in Khayelitsha, Obz Lifestyle Market, The Drawing Room, and Malusi’s Tavern in Langa, among many others.

Tickets for The AfroFest 2019 are available via Quicket. A full pass costs R250, which includes entry to all partnering AfroFest events, including concerts, food, beer, and wine tasting, comedy, dance shows, storytelling, film screenings, and much more! Extra benefits can be purchased at individual venues. This pass also offers discounts to craft workshops registrations. Other events vary in cost, and many are free.
