After two months of strict lockdown, the day has finally arrived when South Africans are allowed to buy alcohol again. Sure the queues will be long, but the mood will be jubilant.
UPDATE: On 12 July 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a ban on alcohol sales so that clinics and hospitals are not burdened with alcohol-related injuries that could have been avoided.
For those who would rather have their favourite beverages delivered, we’ve put together a list of local wine farms, bars, breweries and distilleries that you can support.
We still need to be vigilant and maintain the very necessary protocols that have been put in place, but it’s time to celebrate, just a little, and say cheers to your own strength, discipline and mental fortitude over this time. But, remember, you’re still going to have to deal with Zoom meetings and online learning for your kids in the morning, so don’t party too hard, Cape Town.
