President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on 15 June 2021 that South Africa will move from Lockdown Level 2 to Lockdown Level 3.

The Level 3 Lockdown regulations commenced from Wednesday, 16 June 2021.

What does the Level 3 restrictions entail?

· The curfew is from 10pm to 4am, and only permitted workers will be allowed outside of their place of residence during this time.

· Restaurants, bars and all public places will need to close by 9pm

· Gatherings may not exceed 50% venue capacity, with a maximum of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors.

· Health protocols must be observed at gatherings, including social distancing of 1.5 metres between people.

· Funerals are restricted to a maximum of 50 people with a two-hour limit on services. Night vigils and post-funeral gatherings remain prohibited.

· Alcohol sales from retail outlets are restricted to Monday – Thursday from 10am to 6pm.

· On-site consumption of alcohol at licensed establishments will only be allowed until 9pm.

· Alcohol consumption in public spaces, including beaches and parks is not permitted.

· Wearing your mask (covering your nose and mouth) in public is mandatory and will be considered an offense if not adhered to.

Vaccine Update

The country continues its phase 2 vaccine rollout plan, which means that healthcare workers and members of the public who are over the age of 60 are eligible to be vaccinated.

Here are 4 ways one can register to be vaccinated:

1. Use the online registration platform on the SA Coronavirus website.

2. Dial *134*832# and register via USSD.

3. Use WhatsApp by sending the word “register” to 0600 123 456.

4. Call the national toll-free call centre at 0800 029 999, where someone will help you to register. They will also be able to answer any questions you might have.
