Your guide to Pinotage on Tap 2019

The 15th annual Pinotage on Tap takes place on 27-29 Spetember 2019, celebrating all thigs pinotage. This uniquely South African cultivar is considered a symbol of South Africa’s winemaking history.

What is pinotage?

Pinotage is a vintage own to South Africa and the Cape region. The grape was created in 1925 when a Stellenbosch University professor crossed a pinot noir and cinsault. Cinsault was known locally as hermitage: pinot noir plus hermitage gave us the new grape’s name. The wine it produces is deep red, smoky, and fruity. It is also required to make the famous Cape red blend: at least 30% has to be pinotage.

About Pinotage on Tap

Pinotage on Tap (POT, to those in the know) began as a small gathering of wine fans, celebrating the creation of the famous original Coffee Chocolate Pinotage produced by Diemersfontei. The group drank a single barrel between them with some background music… and the rest is history. Today, the event is in it’s 15th year, and it is a big time event with competitions, live music, food, and plenty more. Join the celebrations this year and indulge in the new vintage of Coffee Chocolate Pinotage.
