Where to Pick Fruit and Flowers In and Around Cape Town

Strawberries

Looking for earthy adventures in and around Cape Town? Picking fruit and flowers offers a welcome respite from city life. We’ve rounded up the best farms where you can pick your own fruits and flowers. Get your hands dirty and spend a day in the sun, and afterwards, you get to appreciate the literal fruits of your labour.

Chart Farm

Roses are red, roses are white, roses are here to pick for your delight. If you love roses, you’ll enjoy being able to pick a wide variety of them at the Chart Farm in Wynberg. The View @ Chart Farm is where you can buy delicious breakfasts, lunches, or coffees and cakes.

You can also visit the Farm Stall while you’re there to buy farm fresh goods like lemons, limes, grapes, figs, chestnuts, and cherries. It’s a fruit and flowers paradise!

Hoogwater Farm

Every year between January and February, the Hoogwater Cottage opens their fig orchard to the public. During this time, they run a pop-up deli, offering coffee, homemade croissants, and cheese boards. There’s also a playground for the kids to have fun while you enjoy your figs in the shade.

Polkadraai Strawberry Farm

Polkadraai Strawberry Farm is easily the most popular fruit-picking farm in Cape Town. Apart from picking your own strawberries, Polkadraai also offers many activities for the whole family. Tractor rides, pony rides, mini golf, and face painting are some of the things you can do while you’re there.

Klondyke Cherry Farm

Cherry-picking season starts in November and runs until the end of December. Several varieties of cherries are available to pick depending on the time you visit. Make a day of it and plan pack a picnic or braai at the farm in the shade of the pine trees.

Hillcrest Berries

Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and tayberries are available for purchase at Hillcrest Berries. However, Hillcrest does not open their orchards to the public because damage to the new shoots could compromise future crops. Nevertheless, it makes a great addition to your fruit and flowers itinerary.
