World of birds

Situated in Hout Bay, the largest park of its kind in Africa. World of Birds is home over 3000 birds, 400 different species of small animal, and more than 100 spacious landscaped walk-through aviaries, allowing visitors the most intimate expeirence with nature.

Species of bird seen here include water birds such as ducks, cormorants, flamingos, waterfowl, pelicans, and swans; birds of prey such as crows, eagles, owls, vultures, goshawks, and buzzards; and other feathered friends such as parrots, secretary birds, shrikes, emus, peafowl, storks and many more.

It’s not just birds that can be seen here; you will also find many different mammal species. A huge highlight for visitors of all ages is the squirrel monkey jungle, which is home to over 30 adorable squirrel monkeys. Other mammals found here include meerkats, squirrels, baboons, mongooses, porcupines, guinea pigs, foxes, racoons, and genets.

World of Birds has a variety of reptiles. Highlights include terrapins, green iguana, rock monitors, tortoises, and blue-tongued skinks. Tortoise species include common padlopers, angulate tortoises, and the large leopard tortoise.
