Birds of Eden

Home to exotic as well as African birds, Birds of Eden has won a multitude of awards for their sustainability and responsible tourism efforts. Many of the birds in the free-flying aviary were rescued from injuries, or confiscated from zoos or breeders of ill-repute.

They are rehabilitated and socialized with other birds in large outdoor pre-release aviaries. Bird owners can even apply to release pet birds into the sanctuary after rehabilitation. For this reason, many of the birds are comfortable around people so don’t be surprised if someone comes and perches themselves on your shoulder or camera.
