The luxury traveller’s guide to Cape Town

Cape Town has plenty to offer travellers who want the finer things in life. If you’re after the trip of a lifetime, with spectacular views, sublime food and wine, loads of pampering, and wonderful memories, you’ve come to the right city.

What to do

Dine out

Cape Town is home to six of the top 10 restaurants in the country. These are The Test Kitchen, La Colombe, Waterkloof, Camphors at Vergelegen, Chef’s Warehouse at Beau Constantia, and Greenhouse. Foxcroft, the Potluck Club, and Thali are also sublime and unique.

Taste wine

Wine tasting is one of the best ways to spend a day in Cape Town. Combine the delicious wines with some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth, century old architecture, and awe-inspiring food, and it’s no surprise that it’s one of Cape Town’s most beloved activities for visitors and locals alike. There are five main wine routes, each with something unique to offer: Constantia, Durbanville, Helderberg, Franschhoek, and Stellenbosch. The Franschhoek Wine Tram is a great way to see many estates without having to worry about driving. We recommend picking one of these routes and visiting three to four estates. Don’t miss Groot Constantia for a great mix of history, wine, food, and scenery!

Have a spa day

No luxury Cape Town break is complete without a massage, glass of bubbly, and some unbeatable views. Luckily, there are plenty of options where you can get just that! The 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa is set into the rock of Table Mountain, creating an underground grotto with plunge pools to relax in before or after your treatment. Alternatively, you can opt for an outdoor massage in a billowy curtained gazebo. Librisa Spa at the Belmond Mount Nelson offers a range of luxurious treatments. They also have a teen treatment menu and a children’s club so the whole family can enjoy a special day together. Packages can include a light lunch at the Oasis Restaurant. One&Only Cape Town’s spa and fitness centre is set on its own private island, with 12 treatment rooms, including couple’s rooms and a full service salon. It also has yoga, Pilates and personal training on offer.  The Heavenly Spa at the Westin Grand is on the 19th floor of the hotel – and it boasts arguably the best view in town.
