Silvermine River Wetlands

There is a distinct amphibian population in this Western Cape nature reserve that includes the arum lily frog, the Cape river frog, the clicking stream frog and the endangered western leopard toad. The encroaching bulrushes have stymied the population of waders although there are still some 50 species that live in the area. Otters swim through the waters while porcupine, grysbok and water mongoose can sometimes be spotted.
