Plaisir de Merle – Distell

Headed up by cellarmaster Niel Bester, only the finest vintages are crafted from the earthy yet refined cultivars of the land. The grounds are surrounded not only by stretching vineyards, but also by lush meadows and trees. As well as purchasing a bottle or two, you can indulge in wine tasting with any of the estate’s wines on offer and delicious cheese platters.

Once the intriguing flavours have fallen silent on your tongue, you may choose to marvel at the frieze at the cellar’s entrance, an artwork created by Jan Corewijn to celebrate and acknowledge the work done by early pioneers of the farm. One of the many gorgeous havens in the Cape Winelands, it is also open as a wedding venue.
