Cape Town Carnival
Actors, dancers and performers make their way down the route, outrageously dressed in bright colours and magnificent attire. They escort gigantic floats, breath-taking in their scale and magical charm. The running of this event means high levels of participation and activity from various industries like set-building, clothing and costumes. Because of the needs and requirements of such a large and complicated operation, there are numerous training opportunities in float design, production and logistics.
What results is a glamorous occasion with locals and tourists alike revelling in the incredible experience and energetic displays of pride and identity. It takes place in March each year.
