Popular Ice Cream Places in the City

Gelato Mania Camps Bay

Cape Town’s ice cream is so good and plentiful, you could live off of it for a week (or three) without ever having to visit the same place twice. We’ve done extensive research to narrow down the top ten ice cream spots in town. Eat now, thank us later.

The Creamery

With trusty favourites like Peanut Butter, Rosetta Roastery Coffee, Sea Salt Caramel, Sweet Cream, and 65% Chocolate you’ll always find creamy greatness at one of the Creamery branches in Cape Town. Every month they have a new flavour to try, and try you must! Each branch also has an ice-cream covered treat on offer, like warm waffles in Newlands or freshly baked cookies in Mouille Point.

They’re also at popular markets like the V&A Waterfront’s Food Market and the Earth Fair Markets in the CBD on Thursdays, so you have a good excuse to try every flavour.

Moro Gelato

Their Gelato is freshly made with local produce and spices and their vegan-friendly sorbet might bring tears of joy to your eyes. Their pastel-coloured parlour on Long Street is Wes Anderson perfection and they’re open till late.

Plus, they have chocolate fountains with dark and white chocolate pouring like a waterfall as you’re reading this. They’re also have a shop in Sea Point and they’re at the Oranjezicht City Farm Market at the V&A Waterfront on Saturdays.

Unframed makes their ice cream from scratch using seasonal ingredients, meaning their offering is rich in taste and mostly guilt-free. The Dairy Den

Sea Point’s sweet spot offers delicious soft serves in black Oreo cones that will make you feel like a kid again. Approach with caution though, because once you are there you will most definitely have to try one of their gourmet doughnuts too. The unicorn swirl with its sprinkles and pop of colour comes highly recommended. Their pink Instagram-friendly store on Main Road is just a few minutes away from the promenade. They recently opened a branch in Kenilworth Centre in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs.
