After a sensation debut in South Africa in an recital in Franschhoek earlier this year, those lucky enough to hear pianist Olga Scheps couldn’t wait for her return. To bring the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Spring Symphony season to an end with her interpretation of the Second Piano Concerto by Rachmaninov in the annual Friends of Orchestral Music Annual Benefit concert.
The concert will take place at the Cape Town City Hall, under the direction of Perry So, who will also conduct the overture to Coriolan by Beethoven and the Fifth Symphony by Shostakovich.
Ms. Scheps was born in Moscow and moved to Germany having already discovered the piano at the age of four. She completed her studies with Pavel Gililov in her adopted home of Cologne in 2013 and rounded out her training with Arie Vardi and Dmitri Bashkirov. She is an acclaimed recitalist as well as a soloist with orchestra and in her chamber projects.
The dress rehearsal for this concert is also open to the public at 11 on the day of the concert. There will be a pre-concert talk at 19:15 open to ticket holders and the reception after the concert is open to all concert goers.
