The Ultimate Cape Town Stadium Experience

Cape Town Stadium Exterior

It feels like just yesterday that we were all dressed up, walking the fan walk, blowing our vuvuzelas, chatting to absolutely every international visitor we encounter along the packed fan walk and generally just high on the gees of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We loved it, we lived it, and we kind of miss it. If you’re looking to get as close to it as possible and a chance to relive some of the great memories, then the Cape Town Stadium Experience is for you.

This very insightful tour takes you all around the stadium and tells you more about the construction of the facility, the world-class materials that were used in the building of the stadium and simply all the work that goes into maintaining this impressive multi-purpose facility.

If you were in the stadium on a match day during the world cup, going back for a tour does actually take you right back there. You get that feeling of the day – the hype, the hysteria, the excitement. It’s all in the air and you’re transported back in time, and you feel the vibe of the day even though the stadium is empty. You get to be close to the pitch, so you really feel the sheer size of it. It’s pretty thrilling.

Other parts of the stadium that you get to see include some of the top suites, the world-class changing rooms and even the stadium jail (there in case something happens at an event). It’s all quite interesting.

Did you know that you can host an event at the stadium? And we’re not just talking about big music events here. Want a unique space for a birthday or other celebration? There are various rooms at the stadium that are up for hire and prices range from R5 000 all the way to R20 000 and beyond.

All-in-all, the stadium tour is very insightful. It feels like a behind-the-scenes look at a top-class event. It’s definitely a unique experience in the Green Point area and something worth the try.

The tours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:00pm and last for an hour.
