When it comes to Pride, Cape Town has its own distinctive style. The event is a 10 day long celebration of the LGBTQ+ community filled with festivals, parties and other events. Add to this the hot summer sun, immaculate beaches and streets filled with people from all walks of life and it is easy to see what makes Cape Town Pride so special.
This year’s Pride event takes place on Saturday, 29 February 2020.
There are a number of events leading up to the famed Pride parade such as drag shows, book launches, sporting events, film shows, poetry readings and art exhibitions. The main event, which is a highlight of the LGBTQ+ calendar, is the Pride March. Filled with colour and the smiling faces of both young and old, you can expect lots of fun with floats and music.
The Mardi Gras is the party that immediately follows the main pride event and this year it will be held on Reddam Field in Green Point Park. Attendees can look forward to a variety of entertainment acts on stage, live bands, drag acts as well as the best singers the Mother City has to offer.
With this year’s theme being “No Excuses, No Regrets” Cape Town Pride 2020 promises to be another unforgettable experience.
