Five Fun Things to do on Mother’s Day

For an up-to-date list of  events, check out our Cape Town Events’ Calendar

This Sunday, 14 May is Mother’s Day, the day when we show our moms just how much we love them and how much they mean to us. It’s the day when moms can sit back, relax and let themselves be spoiled. But breakfast in bed and a big bunch of beautiful flowers is not the only way to show your love, there are loads of activities you can do to have fun with your mum. Here are five fun, slightly different ways to treat mom on Mother’s Day:

Mad Hatter’s Mother’s Day Lunch Buffet

For a Mother’s Day lunch with a twist, grab your favourite or wackiest hat and head over to the Radisson Blue at the V&A Waterfront for the Mad Hatter’s Lunch Buffet. The lunch is from 12h30 to 15h30, and includes a three-course meal, as well as a special gift for mom — a wine and chocolate tasting voucher at Waterford Wine Estate, and a discount voucher for Amani Spa. Lunch is R425 per person and kids between 5 and 12 eat for half the price.

Cape Town Comedy Club

Everyone loves a laugh, and the Cape Town Comedy Club situated in The Pumphouse at the V&A Waterfront is the perfect place to take your mom for some food and funny. While the comics tickle your funny bone from the stage, let the kitchen hit the spot with some delicious local favourites like the famous ‘Jou Ma se Burger’ and ‘Jou Ma se Gatsby’, as well as cheesy pizzas named after famous comedians. What’s more, with their ‘Half price Sundays’ promo, you get in for only R60 per person, no jokes.

Get trapped at the Hint Hunt

For moms who like puzzles, the Hint Hunt at the Old Biscuit Mill is an unusual, but fun way to spend time with mom. The Hint Hunt game locks teams of three to five people in one of a number of themed rooms where they get 60 minutes to solve a series of puzzles and mysteries in order to escape. It’s a bit different but thoroughly entertaining. Prices are between R200 and R300 per person.
