There is plenty happening in Cape Town over March. Take a look at some of the biggest events on the calendar this month.

If your idea of fun is to clad yourself in lycra, don cleats and get around on two sets of wheels, then the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour is definitely an event to put into your diary. It’s the largest individually timed cycle race in the world (with approximately 35 000 entrants), and it boasts one of the most picturesque routes in the world, making it a bucket list item for those who like active holidays. Better still, there are various events happening in the week leading up to the big race, making it a great trip for the whole family.
Cape Town Carnival
When: 18 March
The annual Cape Town Carnival is one of the highlights of the summer in the Mother City. An explosion of colour, entertainment and local talent, thousands are expected to attend in 2017 as Green Point comes alive. This year’s theme is ‘An Ocean Odyssey’, so expect cute penguins, wonderfully large ‘fish’, mermaids, mermen and an enormous show-stopping sunken ship being devoured by a giant squid! Did we mention cute penguins?

It is long, it is brutal, but it is also a sought after ticket. There are multiple viewing spots along the route for MTB fans wanting to get a close-up of this incredible event.
