Fun activities for kids in Cape Town this winter

There’s no reason to be cooped up at home this winter, take the family out to enjoy some Cape Town activities the whole family will enjoy!

Jump for joy at Rush

If you or your kids have a lot of energy, this indoor trampoline park in Claremont is the best way to get rid of it! With rooms filled with interconnected trampolines, challenges and adventures, Rush will make your heart jump for joy. Get ready for some action-packed dodgeball, slam dunk basketball, a battle on a beam and a fun foam pit. It’s a thrill and it’s safe and indoors, meaning it’s perfect for rainy days in Cape Town.

Visit the Planetarium

Head for the stars and travel to galaxies far, far away when you visit the newly reopened Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome. They combine science, physics and fun in a unique way that will school and entertain people of all ages. With their latest update, the Planetarium boasts to be one of only six fully fledged planetaria on the continent. It’s out of this world edutainment (see what we did there?).

Three for one Table Mountain special

When in Cape Town, do as Capetonians do and take advantage of amazing deals like the Table Mountain Kidz Season, which runs until the end of September. With the three-for-the-price-of-one deal, two kids under the age of 18 score a free return trip with the cableway when you buy an adult return ticket for R255 at the Lower Station Ticket Office or online. As a part of the Kidz Season experience, all kids receive a treasure hunt map.

Go on a Scootour

If you’re looking for something new, unique and exciting, look no further because your chariot awaits and it’s a scooter. Not just any scooter though, the Scootours’ Scooters are not motorised and work with momentum, meaning you can simply jump on and let gravity do all the work! Adventurous families will love this two-hour tour on the trails of Table Mountain and Signal Hill as you get to see Cape Town while feeling a rush and taking the road less travelled. These scooters have larger wheels making them safe for the whole family, even on an overcast day.

Go for a camel ride and visit the Snake Park

Imhoff Farm has it all, whether it’s a camel ride, a leisurely ride on horseback through the surf or learning about snakes at the Snake Park (reptile sanctuary and rehabilitation centre), you can do it all in Kommetjie at Imhoff. Enjoy some organic food and let your kids make friends in the Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard, it’s as easy as that.

Kids Activities at the V&A Waterfront

The V&A Waterfront has 15 areas geared towards keeping kids entertained this winter. From an interactive rugby experience at the Springbok Experience Rugby Museum to the Jolly Roger Boat, you’ll find everything you need for a day of fun at this one iconic location. We’d highly recommend the Scratch Patch for gemstone hunting and Cave Golf for indoor sporty fun. For future foodies, there will be a daily Kids Food Activation from 4 July until 17 July from 11h30 till 18h30. So much fun to be had!
