The Cape Town Youth Jazz Festival
The Cape Town Youth Jazz Festival is your chance to see the rising stars of the local jazz scene live in concert. Local young musicians take part in a 10-week mentoring programme, culminating in a performance at the Artscape Theatre.
The Youth Jazz Festival takes place in winter each year, and the 2018 edition took place on 15 June. This annual festival has become a stepping-stone for the music careers of local youth. It’s an exceptional evening of high-quality jazz music.
Every year, top South African jazz musicians mentor the young talent. In 2018, the Youth Jazz Festival mentors were:

Underground parking is available to the public at the underground municipal car park which is linked to the Artscape venue. The parking space is open from 17:00 on weekdays and visitors are allowed one hour before the show starts. The Artscape venue and parking are all wheelchair-friendly. Wheelchairs are available on site but should be pre-booked.

The Artscape Theatre is the main performaing arts centre in Cape Town. It’s best known for big opera, ballet, and theatre performances. It is located centrally in the Cape Town City Bowl, making it easily accessible. The Artscape Theatre Centre is also the home of Fine Music Radio, the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Cape Town Opera. The Cape Town City Ballet also performs there.
