Design Indaba in Cape Town
Since the first event in 1995, the annual Design Indaba in Cape Town has grown to become the highlight of South Africa’s creative calendar, with the three-day event showcasing some of the world’s best industry talent.
The Indaba is a multi-disciplinary platform that champions all the creative sectors. There are a number of platforms devised to showcase some of the biggest names in the industry, as well as some of the most exciting new kids on the block.
DESIGN INDABA CONFERENCE
The annual Conference of Creativity showcases the world’s best creative minds, with a fantastic selection of speakers with compelling multimedia presentations that combine performance, storytelling, career-changing insights and the most cutting-edge creative work on the global circuit.
The festival combines exhibitions, live performances and immersive experiences to ensure audiences get the very best the industry has to offer.
The event programme runs for three days, while the festival is also broadcast live to a number of other South African cities.
The Design Indabar is where you can let your hair down. With live music and other exclusive performances taking place on stage at lunch and in the evening.
DESIGN INDABA FILMFEST
The annual FilmFest powers the use of creativity through film. Putting the spotlight on some of the most talented players in the medium, keep an eye on the official site for the line-up.
A platform that challenges the notion of beauty in design, MBOISA is the annual search for the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa.
Design Indaba is not just about showcasing established creatives, but also putting the spotlight on the young up and comers in the industry. An initiative by both the Design Indaba and Department of Arts & Culture, the programme was devised to help emerging talent break into the industry. Each year, 40 creatives with newly established businesses are given access to highly-sought after resources to allow them to cement their place in the creative world. Visit the website for more information on how to apply.
