Cape Town Tourism has drawn up some suggestions to make your Two Oceans Marathon visit extra special:

See some sights

While you will see come across spectacular views during the marathon, you may want to spend time seeing some of Cape Town’s iconic sights in a more relaxed frame of mind. One of the best ways to this is to take a tour with City Sightseeing,  which will take you around Cape Town, giving you time to take photographs and relax.

You may also want to make the trip out to Robben Island, to see where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years.

Get a good meal

You are going to need a lot of energy to get through those 56km and Cape Town has plenty of great spots at which to wine and dine.

If you like Italian food and want to eat outside of the city centre, try Tuscany Beach Restaurant in Camps Bay, Dan Vito in Fish Hoek, Trattoria Luigis in Hout Bay, or La Masseria in Durbanville.

Entertain the kids

Cape Town is the place to be during school holidays, with many activities available for the whole family.

Two of the more obvious entertainment options for children during the school holidays are The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and the Two Oceans Aquarium, which have been entertaining families for many years.

The Milnerton Waterpark provides much aquatic entertainment, as well as a braai area.

If you children have an interest in animals, they will love the Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre.

Pamper yourself

After pounding the tarmac during the marathon, you deserve a massage and some pampering.

Cape Town offers a wide range of spas, both in the city centre and surrounding areas.

It is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Let your hair down

Cape Town offers a wide variety of entertainment options after the sun goes down.

The city centre offers much variety, with Long Street and the V&A Waterfront being two of the more popular options.

The scenic Kalk Bay area offers numerous restaurants and bars, as do other villages such as Simon’s Town, Hout Bay and Sea Point.
