The idea for Cape Bike Rentals was born out of frustration. David tried to rent a motorcycle for a weekend trip while his trusted Kawa was in for a service. It transpired that rental of a reasonable bike in Cape Town was not cheap and there were few choices. Discussing the matter with friends, it quickly confirmed that this was a known problem. David and his mate Markus decided that there was room for improvement.

Both David and Markus are seasoned motorcycle travellers and know what it takes to make your motorcycle hire experience a success.

David first had a motorcycle at 18 and got back into biking some time later. Some people have mentioned midlife crisis when he set off from England in 1994. His journey ended 8 months later, when he arrived in Cape Town.

David's journey took him though the following countries: England, France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Zaire, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and finally South Africa. A wonderful trip with wonderful memories.

Markus has owned a motorcycle for most of his life and has many kms under his belt. His motorcycle diary (if indeed he had one) could tell about extensive touring all over Europe as well as travels to Morocco and, after moving from Germany to Cape Town in 1997, South Africa and Namibia. He has also been seen beating his GS around the local race track (David says very slowly!)

Markus is a qualified engineer and ensures that all our motorcycles are in excellent condition.
