Birdmen Paragliding is a great source for paragliding in Cape Town and the surrounding areas. Birdmen Paragliding is based in the Northern suburbs of Cape Town and is owned and run by Barry Pedersen.

During his formative years, Barry spent many happy hours assisting his uncle pioneer hang gliding in South Africa. During a visit to Switzerland in 1996 he started paragliding and developed a true love for this artful form of aviation.

In 2003, Candice, Barry’s wife joined Birdmen Paragliding.

Barry is a qualified advanced pilot with well over 2500 flights, a SAPHA Instructor for Paragliding & Powered Paragliding. Barry is a qualified TFI Tandems Pilot for both power and mountain flying.

So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to paraglide, or have the need to experience a tandem flight, or would like to safely fly Cape Town & surrounding area --- there is no better way to do it than with Barry and Birdmen Paragliding.

Guided Day Trips

Adventure and Activity Tours

Cape Town sites each have their own micro met & changing conditions can be fairly dangerous to pilots who are unfamiliar with the particular sites. It is recommended that all visiting pilots be guided for the first time.

Birdmen Paragliding offers fully guided day trips. Once you have agreed to be guided we will notify you of the best site to fly on the day. Supply directions or transport you to the site (not all sites are easily accessed). Give you a full site briefing on take off. Assist with launching and if necessary supply radio assistance during the flight.

A retrieve vehicle will be readily available.

All the sites are options, depending on the prevailing weather forecast.

To obtain pricing please email us at birdmen@xsinet.co.za kindly include your experience and the dates that you plan to fly. Equipment can also be hired.

All pilots must be registered with SAHPA & a 3 month foreign temporary membership can be done through Birdmen Paragliding at a cost of R310.

Pilots would be required to provide their own lunch and drinks

Paragliding with Birdmen is an absolute must while around the Cape! Barry and Candice are amazing pilots, guides, hosts, drivers, cooks and generally fun to be with. I would rate 6/5 but that's no option...
