Baz Bus
Baz Bus was launched in November 1995 by Barry Zeidel, a qualified accountant, entrepreneur and retired backpacker.Barry had travelled around Europe as a backpacker on a similar concept: buy a point-to-point ticket and hop on and off the bus at backpacker hostels on the route. He was amazed at the benefits of the service and not having to worry about the stresses of driving a car in a strange town. He was not forced into a rigid itinerary and, best of all, he met many other like-minded travellers.When he returned to South Africa, Barry did intensive research on backpacking around the country. South Africa did not have a developed infrastructure, especially in the form of public transportation, making it more difficult for backpackers to get around.A passion for backpacking and a dedicated, hard-working team helped to create this unique transport network in South Africa.Today, Baz Bus is a leading force in the country's backpacking industry. We have 180 hostels along our route and we carry more than 10 000 independent travellers on our buses each year!
