Rietvlei Wetland Reserve
Rietvlei is a large, freshwater lake and wetland in Milnerton, which is home to an abundance of birdlife. A bird census found that there are 102 different species found at Rietvlei Wetland Reserve, and of these, 70 are regulars year round, making it a prime spot for bird watching.
It’s also a hotspot for a number of watersports and boasts a beautiful bloom of flowers during the spring.
The vlei welcomes windsurfers and sailors while the surrounding area holds a network of beautiful walking trails. There is also a bird hide, which comfortably seats 20 people, and overlooks the wading birds and those fluttering in the reeds.
