Since its inception in April 2005, Kaleidoscope has been multi-faceted venue - from Church on a Sunday morning to weekly Jazz on a Friday and Sunday night.
“A Venue in the Community for the Community” Kaleidoscope Café also hosts monthly Market Day generally on the first Saturday of the month, hires out the venue for functions and is a fully equipped recording studio as well.
Glenn Robertson, beside being a pastor, also leads his own jazz band, and the organiser of Kaleidoscope affirms that Kaleidoscope is not used only for religious reasons, but also as a meeting place for young and old and is a space where those who love Cape Town come to celebrate.
Cape Town’s Jazz history is honoured here by paying tribute to past masters as well as encouraging new artists who are taking the music into the future. Kaleidoscope is a stepping stone for up and coming talent.
The monthly Market Day is aimed at empowering people who are either unemployed, who have been retrenched and who have started their own entrepreneurial ventures – Kaleidoscope offers them space to promote their products.
The venue is also suitable for hiring if you are looking for a smart and intimate venue for your birthday party, concert, conference, seminar, CD launch, business breakfast, fundraiser event, wedding reception and rehearsal space, to name a few.
The fully equipped recording studio can record individual artists as well as big bands and choirs. It can either be recorded LIVE or without an audience.
The Jazz evenings on Friday and Sunday nights are very popular and pre-booking is essential.
