Greater Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve

Want a fun day out in a nature reserve for some bird watching, a short walk or a picnic? Then head to the Greater Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve wetland area near Muizenberg.

The Greater Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve is a 200ha wetland, river system and estuary found near the popular Muizenberg on the False Bay Coast. Right next door to the thriving market towns of Kalk Bay and Simon’s Town, this Cape Town nature reserve is free to enter and is perfect for picnics, outings and birdwatchers.

It hosts a myriad of fauna and flora and operates an environmental education centre, with many endangered animal species finding refuge in its fish hatcheries and nurseries.
