Cape Philharmonic Orchestra
Composed of some of the finest musicians in Cape Town, the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra is the epitome of talent and skill. Founded in 1914, it is the most active and multi-functional orchestra on the African continent and covers many festivals, concerts and all genres of music from ballets to symphonic pop.
It is currently one of only three fulltime professional ensembles in the country, getting a reputation as the jewel of the Cape’s music industry. Both financially and culturally stable, it also recognises its responsibility in giving back to the community and is heavily involved in youth development and social initiatives such as the Masidlale Music Project and the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
