The Wizard of Oz at Artscape
The Artscape Theatre Centre is as dramatic in its architecture as it is in its theatrical shows, and has graced Cape Town’s skyline since 1971.
The elegant venue is host to a never-ending variety of productions, notably including the ballet, opera and performances by the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. Of course, it wouldn’t be a night at the theatre without the full service bar, while the restaurant serves great bistro-style comfort food.
The Artscape Theatre Centre has four separate venues: a 1187-seater opera house, a 540- seater theatre, a 120-seater arena and a 100-seater cabaret venue. Each of these facilities have hosted a number of world-class productions over the years, which has turned the Artscape into a cultural icon.
Large-scale musicals have become a feature on many a theatre-goers calendar with the likes of West Side Story, Singing in the Rain and great family-pleasers, like Annie the Musical, packing the opera house night after night.
In the Spring of 2017, the Wizard of Oz, will no doubt be a favourite with families – both local and international.
